Mac & Cheese
\ Modern Art Test Shoot \ Turning comfort food into a visual study of form and color
What began as a simple test shoot became an exploration of texture, color, and composition—transforming the familiar comfort of mac and cheese into something unexpectedly graphic and refined. The concept was to approach a classic dish as modern art: sculptural, bold, and full of energy.
Using clean studio lighting and a vibrant palette, we focused on the glossy surfaces, smooth drips, and golden tones that make mac and cheese instantly recognizable. Every curve and shadow was carefully considered to play with depth and dimension—balancing the playful with the sophisticated.
The result was a portfolio piece that’s both familiar and avant-garde, capturing Leslie’s love for color-driven storytelling and her technical precision as a food photographer. It’s proof that even the simplest subjects can become striking works of visual design when treated with intention.
